Abstract

Damming river causes fragmentation of the river and changes in hydrologic regime, thus contributing to influence fish. We investigated barb and aimed to examine its reproductive aspects between the zone above and below the Panglima Besar Soedirman Reservoir. Samples were collected from October 2012 to March 2013. Gill nets, cast-net, and electrofishing were used to capture the fish. Samples were analysed to find out the estimate gonad maturity, gonado-somatic index, fecundity, and egg diameter. The first maturity of male gonad size (158 mm in length body) in zone above is smaller than the reservoir (158 mm) and zone below (187 mm). The female has 238 mm of the first maturity of gonad size on the reservoir site, bigger than the zone above (168 mm) and zone below (161 mm). The spawning peak of barb occurs in October based on the gonad maturity stage data and gonado-somatic index. The fecundity of the barb is 2,76025,290 eggs. The fish is total spawner. The reservoir influenced the barb reproduction. AbstrakPembangunan bendungan akan memisahkan sungai dan mengubah rejim hidrologis, yang selanjutnya akan memenga-ruhi kehidupan ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji aspek reproduksi ikan brek pada bagian atas dan bagian bawah Sungai Serayu yang dipisahkan oleh Waduk Panglima Besar Soedirman. Pengambilan ikan contoh dilakukan dari bulan Oktober 2012 hingga Maret 2013. Ikan contoh ditangkap dengan menggunakan jaring insang, jala, dan elektrofishing. Sebagai perbandingan, contoh ikan juga dikoleksi di daerah waduk. Analisis dilakukan terhadap tingkat kematangan gonad, indeks kematangan gonad, fekunditas, dan diameter telur. Ukuran pertama matang gonad ikan brek jantan pada zona bawah (153 mm) lebih kecil jika dibandingkan dengan zona waduk (158 mm) dan zona atas (187 mm). Ikan betina pada zona waduk memiliki nilai lebih besar (238 mm) jika dibandingkan dengan zona atas (168 mm) dan zona bawah waduk (161 mm). Berdasarkan nilai tingkat kematangan gonad dan indeks kematangan gonad puncak pemijahan ikan brek terjadi pada bulan Oktober. Fekunditas ikan brek berkisar 2.760-25.290 butir telur. Ikan brek memiliki tipe pemi-jahan serempak. Pembangunan waduk berpengaruh terhadap reproduksi ikan brek.
