Abstract

The aim of this study is to explain biology aspect of red rainbowfish that is reproductive biology [sex ratio, gonad maturity, fecundity, spawning season and length at first maturity (L50)]. This study was conducted in Sentani Lake during 5 months (December 2007-May 2008). Sex ratio was higher for female on January-February (1:3), gonad maturity and GSI was higher in station 1, 2, 3 and 6 at December. Fecundity ranges between 910-3122 eggs. Eggs diameter is 0,625-7,125 ^m and spawning pattern is partial spawner and iteroparous.
