Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate the heterosis value of hybrid of Pangasionodon hypophthalmus and Pangasius nasutus. The test of fish was produced by full sibs crossing between them. The breeding technique was conducted by induce breeding. The fingerlings of fish were reared on the earthern ponds for six months. Result of this research indicated that the hybrid from the cross is overdominan compared than parents stock. Traits of standard length, weight, and survival rate was significantly different (P<0.05) compared than the mean of the parent. Heterosis representing excellence from both parent stocked up to 22.44%. Hybrid between P. hypophthalmus and P. nasutus as new type can be developed to increase productivity of catfish in supporting national production of fish culture.
